Have you decided to pull yourself together and lead a healthy lifestyle? You have made an important and correct step! But not easy. The problem with this solution, like the problem with diets, is that many cannot stand it, because white bread is much more delicious and tastier than black, not to mention cakes. Although, if you still survive, then after a while you will get used to it and even start to have fun.
Doctors say that today’s mass food is a source of diseases, sometimes turning into epidemics. The most striking example is diabetes mellitus of the second group. This disease was considered a disease of the elderly, today it is affected by children and adolescents, and the number of cases is growing. Balanced nutrition has other advantages. In addition to diabetes mellitus, such nutrition prevents high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, etc. At the same time, the body’s work improves, the digestive system functions better, the brain activity, the condition of the hair, skin, and nails improves, the general condition that influences well and the nervous system.
1 – Drink water – slowly start eliminating sugary drinks and replace with water. So many of us are dehydrated, but it’s so normal to us now, that we don’t even realize it. A few studies have shown that those attempting to lose weight, have much greater success if they start making water their drink of choice. Our bodies are composed primarily of water, so we need to make sure we stay hydrated!
2 – Exercise – Just do something you enjoy – you don’t need to start training for a marathon, or be able to bench press your body weight. Start going for long walks – join a sports team – join a gym and participate in group exercise classes. Just find something you can enjoy and do several times a week, if not daily. Exercising daily for 30 minutes helps increase your chance at a longer life. We live a much too a sedentary lifestyle, and it’s one of the reasons why we are seeing an increase in cardiovascular-related diseases.
3- Eat Fruit! – This is a great way to get your daily vitamins and, it basically natures candy – instead of eating a candy bar, try eating an apple, kiwis, or some strawberries. You will satisfy your palate, and be eating healthy at the same time!
4- Eat healthy meals and Learn to cook!
Saying eating healthy is probably the most overused advice when it comes to healthy lifestyle advice. But it is also one of the most necessary. As a secondary piece of advice…start learning how to cook, if you don’t know how to already. In our fast-paced world, we eat a lot more processed food than we should which leads to vitamin deficiencies and overeating. Learning to cook will naturally lead to healthier eating since you are using natural ingredients, rather than throwing a frozen pizza in the oven.
Try to have a balanced meal with some fruits and veggies and lean meats like chicken or turkey. Also, try eating smaller meals and portions. You would be surprised at how filling fruits and veggies can be. Perhaps start using smaller plates so you don’t feel like you need to fill this huge dinner plate, and end up eating a 1200 calorie dinner.
I recommend looking into a diet called the Keto diet if your goal is to lose weight.
5- Hang out with healthy people
If you want to make a change in your life, it’s easiest if you surround yourself with people who believe in what you are doing. Try to get your friends on board with your healthy journey – Maybe 1 or 2 will want to walk this journey with you and really help you out. However, if they are not supportive, it might be time to find other groups to be with.
6- Wake up five minutes early.
That’s just 300 seconds. Use this time to simply breathe or do a quick meditation. “Sit up in bed and begin to take nice deep breaths,” suggests Kelsey Patel, LA-based certified reiki master, and yoga instructor. “Say or think five things you’re grateful for and close the practice by envisioning yourself having an easy, healthy and joyful day.” Is there a better way to wake up?
7- Add flavor, without calories.
Lots of spices (think turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne, ginger, and rosemary) can enhance the flavor of your food, while also providing anti-inflammatory benefits and antioxidants, says Dr. Jampolis. So add a little kick to your smoothie, stir fry, eggs or salad dressings. These zero-calorie palate pleasers might even help you cut back on sugar and salt.
8-Get Sunlight.
If you’re looking for more energy, an improved mood, and overall sense of well-being, sunlight is your natural answer. Hardly any of us get enough of it, and without enough sunlight, this can lead to depressed moods and lack of energy. Take 15–30 minutes out of every day to get outside and enjoy some rays. Even if it’s cloudy, you’ll still get the benefits. For those in very dark and cold climates, I recommend an artificial light therapy. I just started using one this Winter and I’m loving it!
